Vaccination site volunteers

COVID-19 has been the single greatest public health emergency in the history of the NHS.

The NHS was the first health system in the world to roll out a clinically-approved, safe and effective vaccine, and they are working now to deliver it to those who would benefit most in hundreds of hospitals, local vaccination services and care homes across the country, with larger Vaccination Centres also standing ready to be used when supplies allow.

This will be a huge task, and vaccinating millions of people as quickly as possible, whilst at the same time as keeping other vital services going, will require lots more help and that's where you come in.

Can you help?

To help ensure the NHS is able to deliver a large-scale vaccination programme without significantly impacting on other vital services, we are working very closely with them to recruit and co-ordinate volunteers who can support vaccine services at sites in and around the borough. Register your interest

In addition to this, colleagues may also be looking for volunteers at Epsom Race Course (one of the large vaccination sites). You can register your interest directly with them by emailing  andrew.mcgrath4@nhs.net.

Volunteer roles

Help is needed from volunteers who can aid NHS staff to ensure the safe and smooth running of vaccination services. These initially include:

  • Marshalling - both indoors and outdoors
  • Ushering and orienteering patients around the site
  • Other roles may be added, at which time we will update this page

In all cases, direction, support, appropriate supervision and personal protective equipment will be available to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers and patients.

When?

The vaccination programme is already underway however we will require more volunteers as we respond to the ever changing needs of our NHS colleagues. Your support is greatly appreciated.
