The Draft Local Community Action Plan (LCAP) for Lower Kingswood seeks to tackle local issues and has been developed through extensive consultation with the local community.

Over the past few months, the Council’s Community Liaison team and Ward Councillors have been working with residents, businesses, community representatives and youth groups to identify what maters to them.

Their feedback has been used to identify common issues and then the Council work in partnership with other local service providers, such as Surrey County Council and Surrey Police, to try to find solutions.

Working together to find solutions

Cllr Allen Kay, Executive Member for Partnership, said: “Reigate & Banstead Borough Council actively works towards the achievement of sustainable and thriving communities.  To help support this we work hard to get an understanding of the things that are important to residents and the wider community.

“The Borough Council is working with its partners, including Surrey County Council and Surrey Police to investigate issues including the A217, speeding, litter and dog fouling.

"A community feedback event will be held in the near future so that the local community can see what has come of their involvement in the LCAP process.

“Ward Councillors and our Community Liaison team will monitor progress and report back to residents on delivery of the actions in the plan.

"The LCAPS scheme also keeps the Borough Council and Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) informed on local issues, which helps our corporate and community planning processes to deliver more effective services."

Some of the actions in the plan can be delivered almost immediately, but others will be longer-term. The Borough Council does not hold responsibility for all of the issues raised and so some the actions will be led by other agencies.

The plan also gives advice to residents on how they can contribute to the actions in the plan.

Information for LCAPS is gathered from the local community through surveys, consultation events, residents' association meetings, meetings with local businesses and visits to societies and clubs.

Ward Councillors take the lead in developing an action plan which is drawn up through further dialogue with those involved.

Previous areas to come under the LCAP spotlight include Woodhatch, Earlswood and Whitebushes, Hooley, Netherne-on-the-Hill and Walton on the Hill.

The Community Liaison team are currently working with Ward Councillors to develop LCAPs for Banstead, Reigate, Tattenhams and Nork.
