Fencing off north east Horley development site begins
News release dated 5 April 2007 about fencing being put up around the site of the planned north east Horley new neighbourhood.
During Easter week (beginning 8 April), chestnut paling will be put up to fence in various areas around the planned new neighbourhood in north east Horley.
Works will start soon there to construct the link road, phase one spine road and earthworks for the first of the town's two major housing developments.
The fencing is being erected by the developers (Wates, Martin Grant Homes and Barratts) to ensure the 55 hectare site is safe and secure before and during construction works.
Public rights of way through the site will remain open and are being incorporated into the final development scheme, but will be fenced along their length during construction work to maintain safety and to stop people straying into the site on either side of the paths.
The informal footpath networks through the site, as opposed to designated rights of way, will no longer be accessible.
Significant new areas of public open space will be created as a result of the development, specifically in the Riverside Green Chain, linking new and existing homes into a network of footpaths and cycle routes and enhancing public access.
The north east sector is the first of two major new housing developments in Horley being developed as part of the Horley Masterplan and providing a package of investment to enhance Horley for all residents.
