Which credit or debit cards do you accept?

We can accept payments made with the following debit or credit cards:

• Visa
• Visa Delta (Debit)
• Visa Electron
• Mastercard
• Domestic Maestro (including Switch cards)
• Solo

We do not accept American Express or Diners card.

Is it safe to enter my credit or debit card details online?

Payments to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council are accepted through a ‘secure page’. For information about Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s security policy, please see our Security statement.

Are there alternative ways to pay?

Instructions for paying are provided on the penalty charge notices. The quickest and most convenient way to pay is using our secure online payment page. You can also pay by phone or post:

We accept Visa, Delta, Mastercard and Solo cards. Call the Payment Line on: (01737) 276727, 8.30am-5.30pm Mondays to Fridays.

Penalty Charge Notices

What if I wish to appeal a penalty charge notice?

Motorists who receive a Penalty Charge Notice and wish to challenge the ticket can write to the Council at the address below.

On receipt of a letter challenging the Penalty Charge Notice the Council will put the case on hold until a decision has been made on your particular case. If for any reason you are asked to pay the Penalty Charge the Council will give you a further 14 days to pay the discounted penalty charge from the date of Council’s reply.

Alternatively you may like to consider paying the discounted penalty charge of £30.00 and write to the Council challenging the Penalty Charge Notice.

What does ‘Reference’ mean?

There are two reference numbers associated with making a payment:

The Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) reference which you are making the payment against, and after the payment has been accepted, you are issued with a Receipt reference.

How do I know my PCN reference?

The PCN reference will be displayed on the parking ticket issued by the Council. It will be 10 digits long and will start with RI. Eg. RI12345678. Sometimes the last digit will be a letter.

When I tried to enter my PCN reference, it was rejected. Why?

The PCN reference is checked to see if it is a valid format, to prevent the accidental mis-keying of information. Please double-check that you have entered the number fully and correctly.

Invoices

Where do I find my Invoice and Account number?

Your Invoice and Account numbers are on the top right hand side of your invoice.

When I entered my invoice and account number it was rejected?

Check that the numbers entered are correct and also check that the post code is the same as that quoted on your invoice. Should you still encounter any problems please contact the Council on 01737 276727 from 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday. Any other queries contact the telephone number on the invoice.

Can I pay part of the invoice?

No, only the full amount of the invoice will be accepted.

Is there a fee for payment?

There is a fee of 1.8% (including VAT) for payment by credit card but not for debit cards.
