Pedestrian crossing enforcement
This page explains the penalties for motorists caught parking on the pedestrian crossing markings
The Traffic Management Act allows both the Police and the Council's Civil Enforcement Officers (Parking) to enforce the pedestrian crossing zig zag markings. The penalties for motorists caught parking on the Pedestrian Crossing markings are:
- a Fixed Penalty Notice issued by Surrey Police, £60 fine plus two penalty points on your driving licence
- a Penalty Charge Notice issued by the Council's Civil Enforcement Officer (Parking) will be £70, reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days.
In cases where a motorists receives a ticket from both the Police and the Council's Civil Enforcement Officer (Parking) for the same offence, the legislation states that the Police Fixed Penalty Notice takes precedence.
