Parking in the street
This section provides information about traffic warden duties in Reigate and Banstead.
The Council took over responsibility for traffic-warden duties from the police on 1 June 2004.
With increasing numbers of cars on the road every year, congestion is getting worse and indiscriminate parking is becoming an increasing problem.
This results in traffic jams as well as hazards for pedestrians and delays to buses, taxis and most importantly our emergency services.
Ambulances and Fire engines find it almost impossible to get down some streets.
Having taken over traffic warden duties from the police, the Borough Council can now take tougher action on unauthorised parking and so free up our streets.
As well as better enforcement of parking restrictions, the move leaves the police free to concentrate on more serious crime.
