Redhill Bus Station
This page is about the new Redhill Bus Station
The £650,000 refurbishment of Redhill Bus Station was unveiled on 4 July 2008. Brand new buildings have been constructed and existing facilities refurbished to the highest quality, with particular emphasis on safety, accessibility and improving the environment.
New features include:
- a safer passenger building, with better lighting and CCTV coverage
- a new waiting room with an electronic passenger information system
- a new ticket office with double height counter to assist people in wheelchairs and an induction loop for those who are hard of hearing a rest room for bus operator staff
- a new concourse layout to accommodate the larger turning circles that are required for higher specification buses such as the new Fastway 100 and to improve pedestrian safety
- four separate boarding bays and platforms have been created to cater for larger dual door buses and provide step free access into low floor buses, making it easier for people with disabilities, carers with prams and those carrying shopping.
- bus flagpoles marking these stops will be operated on solar power
- the pedestrian crossing near Station Road, has been remodelled to provide a safer route for pedestrians moving between the bus and railway stations and Redhill Town Centre.
New stops
Once the bus station re-opens the temporary bus stops in Marketfield Way and Princess Way will no longer be in use.
