Youth Opportunity Fund and Youth Capital Fund

This page is about deadlines for applications Youth Opportunity and Youth Capital Fund (YOF/YCF) for the year 2008/09.

Reigate & Banstead Youth Council have set the deadlines for the next round of funding. Both funds have two new deadline dates of Friday 17 October 2008 and Friday 30 January 2009. There is a total of £48,500 YOF and £43,000 YCF available for Reigate and Banstead.

The Grant Giving Panel will then meet during the second half of October 2008 and February 2009 to consider all the bids. Young people this is your chance to obtain funding to provide and improve places to go and things to do for young people within the Borough.

Grants from these funds enable young people, aged 13-19 (young people with special needs up to 25 years) to have a greater choice and influence over provision and facilities in their local community, particularly those who are ‘disadvantaged’. 

What are they for?

• YOF grants are for young people to spend on developing projects of their choice, which they feel will benefit themselves, their peers and their community.
• YCF grants are for young people to spend on items of equipment, mobile resources and refurbishment.
• applications must be submitted by young people and they can apply for both funds in tandem to develop a project.

Criteria for grants

Grants must:

• increase ‘things to do and places to go’ for young people in their communities, particularly those who traditionally face difficulties in participating and achieving
• meet at least one (preferably more) of the five outcomes of ‘Every Child Matters’ – stay safe, be healthy, enjoy and achieve, achieve economic well-being and make a positive contribution
• ensure young people take a leading role in spending the YOF and YCF funding both as grant givers and applicants.

Young people should be encouraged to consider local needs in shaping provision for their peers beyond their immediate group.
