Thorpe Park, Chertsey

This section provides information about Thorpe Park in Chertsey, one of Europes's leading leisure parks.

Thorpe Park opened in the 1970s as a 'theme' park with the concept being to entertain and educate its visitors.

The theme was the History of the British People as a Maritime Nation, appropriate since half of its 500 acres were lakes.

From the mid 1980s it was decided that for Thorpe Park to compete in the leisure industry, it needed to move away from its original concept.

A host of rides and entertainments were added to the attraction as it began a metamorphosis into the modern theme park it is today.

Thorpe Park is now one of Europe's leading leisure parks, with constantly rising visitor numbers.

This season Thorpe Park offers more than ever before.

Among the attractions are Lost City, Neptune's Kingdom, Atlantis, Calypso Quay, Canada Creek, Ranger County, Amity Cove, Octopus' Garden and Thorpe Farm.
