Priory Park restoration

Priory Park Celebration Weekend

This page is about the weekend of activities and entertainment to celebrate the restoration of Priory Park.

The Priory Park Celebration Weekend will be taking place on Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July.  

Launch

On Friday evening, 7pm till 10pm, Launch, a live music event will take place. Launch is in association with Mercury FM and the Reigate & Banstead Youth Council.

The evening will feature music from some of the Borough’s exciting local bands, including The Getaway Team, Bottlenex, White Noise and more.

Tickets for Launch cost £2 and are available from the Harlequin Theatre, Richer Sounds (Reigate), Papa Johns (Reigate).

Traditional fairground

The weekend will feature a traditional fairground, open on the Friday evening, all day Saturday and all day Sunday.

Reigate will get its very own ‘eye’ in the form of a 40 ft big wheel. Dodgems, a helter skelter, carousel, waltzer and swing chairs will also feature in the fairground.

Something for everyone

Teacups, train track, ponies ride and inflatable slide will be great fun for younger children.  For the more adventurous, newer rides such as the frog and the roter are sure to entertain. 

Fun Day

Saturday will be Fun Day featuring a sports zone, youth zone and community zone. Entry is free.

Sports zone

Activities will be demonstrated and available to get involved in at the sports zone.

The wide range of sporting activities will include rugby, tennis, a climbing wall, skateboarding, orienteering, trampolining and archery.

Youth zone

Fashion shows will be repeated throughout the day in the youth zone. 

They will feature the designs of local shops Gedo, Quattro Rish, Blink, as well as Benetton and New Look. Make overs will also be taking place in collaboration with Benefit.

Connexions will be present in the youth zone running advice workshops throughout the day.

Community zone

The community zone will feature stalls, displays and demonstrations by local organisations.

The community zone will give people a great opportunity to find out about activities and clubs that operate in their local area.

Heritage Day

Heritage Day will take place on Sunday, celebrating the history and culture of the borough of Reigate & Banstead. Entry is free.

The Reigate Priory museum will be open - with free entry, there will be a display of the archaeological artefacts found in the park during the restoration and a display of vintage cars.

Period musicians, croquet and boulles will provide further entertainment during the day. Period costume will also be modelled– Lady Somerset herself, founder of Priory Park, may even make an appearance!

Reigate Summer Music

Reigate Summer Music will take place from 6pm onwards, in the park, on Saturday and Sunday evening.
