Official opening Tuesday 8 July 2008
His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex KG KCVO will officially open the recently refurbished Priory Park, Reigate during the morning of Tuesday, 8 July, 2008.
Priory Park, Reigate has undergone a £6.6m refurbishment of which £4.2m came from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The newly restored public park boasts the first building by renowned French architect Dominique Perrault as well as a challenging children's playground with its own sunken galleon and a 32 metre long by 14 metre wide sunken concrete skate bowl.
Priory Park is the setting for the Priory school, the children of which have been heavily involved in the design of the park. The Earl of Wessex will meet the children from the school, the project officers and witness a skateboarding demo by Skaterham, who run an indoor skate park in Caterham (weather-permitting).
The Pavilion Cafe will be closed until 2pm on this day.
