Schedule of work

This page contains the schedule of work for the Priory Park restoration and enhancement project.

Now that construction work has started the schedule of works will run as follows.

• The majority of the works carried out during 2007 and it is anticipated that works will be complete in Spring 2008.

• The Park will remain open during the restoration, with the new facilities being made available as they are ready.

• Public toilets: Closed from late February 2007. The new toilets will open in December 2007. The nearest public toilets are located at the entrance to Morrisons in Bell Street. We are currently investigating the provision of temporary toilets within the Park during the peak months of April to September.

• Kiosk: Closed from February. Will be replaced with new pavilion. Kiosk operator has permission to operate an ice-cream van for refreshments during the summer months.

• Archaeological investigations: February to March 2007

• Lake works: February to June 2007 except planting. Planting will be carried out in September (weather permitting).

• Tree works: tree felling in February 2007; lifting and transplanting at a later date between September and November 2007.

• Tennis courts: closed from February 2007. New tennis courts constructed from June and expected to open late summer 2007. The nearest public courts are in the Redhill Memorial Park.

• Basketball court and skate park: closed from February 2007. New skate park and will be built between June and October 2007.

• Pavilion construction: March to December 2007

• Bell Street car park works: June to August 2007

• Children’s playground: The existing children’s playground will be dismantled once the new play area has been completed.

• Football pitches: will remain open throughout the football season.

• The Priory Museum: access will be maintained whilst the Museum is open. (Note the Museum has its annual closure from 12 February until 16 April).

• Woodland areas (Reigate Park): will remain open throughout the works.
