Leisure Centre Review
The Council is carrying out a review of leisure centre provision within the borough, with a view to develop facilities which are fit for the 21st Century.
We want to build a legacy for the future that provides residents with the opportunity to pursue an active lifestyle in a well designed, affordable and sustainable leisure centres.
"creating a good quality, accessible and sustainable leisure infrastructure that if fit for the 21st Century and meets realistic community needs."
This is a bold and challenging aspiration because:
- Current provision is not fit for purpose, Donyngs needs significant investment, Banstead Sports Centre and Horley Anderson Swimming Pool and Sports Centre are over 30 years old and reaching the end of their viable life.
- We want to replace Horley Anderson Swimming Pool and Sports Centre and/or Banstead Sports Centre without putting up Council Tax or cutting other Council Services.
This presents the Council with some difficult choices.
Thank you to all those who have taken part in the consultation.
