Litter picks

This page is about litter picks as part of the Love Where You Live and the national Big Tidy Up campaigns

As part of the Love Where You Live campaign litter picks have been happening around the borough. These have involved the Ward Members and local groups organising the clean up events in conjunction with the relevant Neighbourhood Services Officer.scouts with flourescent jackets picking litter

We have provided the necessary:

The community gangs have provided the labour. In total around 600 sacks of litter have been removed from 16 different areas within the borough.

This is an excellent joint effort by many groups and our thanks go to all concerned with helping keep our borough clean.

Big Tidy Up campaign

EnCAMs (Tidy Britain Group) is launching a national Big Tidy Up campaign on the 1 September 2008 and we have registered our interest. See the EnCAMs website (opens in new window).

This will be the country’s biggest blitz on litter in over a decade and it is anticipated that thousands of people will get involved in cleaning up their local corner of the community. If you have specific locations in mind, get in touch so that we can start co-ordinating our approach for the autumn.
