Syringes
Information about discarded syringes and how you can dispose of them.
Needles, syringes and other drug related items are being unfortunately increasingly discarded in the environment.
There are a number of hazards associated with handling these items and if discovered you should contact us to have them safely removed and disposed.
We advise members of the public not to pick up needles, unless it poses an immediate danger to you or other residents. Ideally, you should contact us and we will safely dispose of them.
The Council supports the Primary Health Care Trust Needle exchange service.
This project promotes the safe use and disposal of syringes and needles. For more information please ring 01372 227382, if there is no reply, you can leave a message in confidence.
The Council provide a ‘one off’ collection of sharps box via the Council’s clinical waste collection service.
- See section on clinical waste.
Sharps boxes can be provided on prescription, by your local doctor.
