Why Recycle?
This section explains why the Council is committed to recycling - and why you should be too.
The Borough Council is constantly striving to recycle more. Our record is one of the best in the county and is in the top decile in the country but there is still more to do and the whole community needs to play its part.
Perhaps the first question people ask is...
Why should I bother to recycle?
- You are helping to preserve the environment for future generations
- The disposal of your household waste costs money
- Landfill is running out
- Recycling saves energy and preserves natural resources
- Proposals for an incinerator have been very unpopular
- Reduces excess waste
This will have a huge potential impact on local communities and the prospect of incineration will come closer.
We are doing our utmost - we need the community to do the same.
Waste management matters, so don't waste a second.
