Home composting
This section provides information about a great new offer on home composters.
The Council is encouraging residents to start home composting in the latest part of our drive to protect the local environment.
The Borough already has one of the best recycling records in the county. The public can play their part to improve our record still further by taking advantage of a new special deal on home composters.
Thanks to an arrangement between the Council and WRAP, residents can buy composters at a greatly reduced rate.
What's so great about home composting?
Home composters are great because they allow you to re-use a wide range of organic waste.
You can cut the contents of your bin by up to a third by home composting, and its also a great way of re-using small items of organic garden waste.
You can compost:
- fruit and veg peelings
- egg shells
- egg cartons (take off the labels first)
- tea bags
- grass cuttings.
The even better news is, home composting is easy, and the finished compost makes an excellent soil conditioner for the garden.
