Energy saving
This section provides help and advice on how you can save energy in the home and at work, which will help you save money too.
Energy saving in the home
As part of the Council's aim to protect the environment, we work hard to help residents save energy in the home.
As a result, we are working with the energy centre for sustainable communities (ecsc), a charity, part-funded by the Energy Saving Trust, to bring you a comprehensive range of services to help you “do your bit”.
The scheme is known as Climate Benefits and has been set up to help you make a difference by saving energy at home. We'll provide you with free and impartial advice on a range of energy related topics, and then give you a way to take action on them.
Some of the help available through Climate Benefits is specific to residents living in Reigate and Banstead.
If you live in the borough visit www.climatebenefits.org.uk to see whether you qualify.
For more extensive information about energy issues see the Energy Saving Trust website itself… it’s well worth a visit.

Energy saving in business
The Council also works closely with agencies who can provide help and advice to businesses on a range of energy efficiency issues.
One such agency is the Carbon Trust. This government-funded independent company’s role is to help the UK move to a low carbon economy by helping business and the public sector reduce carbon emissions now and capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies.
The Carbon trust offers products and services to help turn opportunities for energy saving into real world reductions in energy consumption, carbon emissions and operating costs, as well as providing a wide range of services and support for low carbon technology development.
The Carbon Trust provides free surveys (subject to terms and conditions) to organisations with annual energy bills of over £50,000.
Their expert consultants identify energy saving opportunities and offer practical advice on how to achieve these.
Smaller companies (annual energy bills under £50,000) can also benefit from expert advice.
Visit www.carbontrust.co.uk or call the Carbon Trust’s customer Advice Line on 0800 917 3030 to find out more.
