The award was developed to acknowledge the achievements of food proprietors who exceeded the basic requirements for providing safe food.

Hygiene award winners

Mr Chapman, Mr Richings, Mr Crisci, Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, Cllr Mrs Frances Dixon, Mr Davis Smith, Mr Tassi, Mr Cormack, Cllr Allen Kay

Cllr Allen Kay, Executive Member for Community Safety and Transport, said:

“The Safe Food – Good Hygiene Award was launched by the council during last year’s National Food Safety Week as a way of recognising those businesses that have gone the extra mile to achieve consistently higher standards of food safety and hygiene.

“One of the aims in highlighting these high achievers is to inform customer choice in terms of cleanliness – something customers tell us is very important to them – and, in turn, encourage other businesses to become similarly recognised via the scheme.

“We hope that today’s winners will act as champions to others in their sector and I would encourage other local businesses to apply for the standard."
