Safer Food Better Business: Free Coaching for Caterers
New European legislation requires most food businesses to have a documented management system. That is, details in writing of what each business does to make sure the food it serves is completely safe. A pack called “Safer Food Better Business” (SFBB for short) has been produced by the Food Standards Agency to assist businesses to meet this requirement.
The “Surrey Safer Food Partnership,” comprising ten Surrey authorities led by Reigate and Banstead, has been awarded a Government grant to help local catering businesses apply SFBB. The grant will be used to host a series of seminars and provide individual coaching sessions to help businesses use SFBB correctly.

There will be nine seminars taking place in Reigate & Banstead throughout 2007/8. Approximately 200 catering businesses will be invited, the majority of which will go on to receive one-on-one coaching. Seminar dates are:

Each seminar, lasting three hours, aims to provide advice and support to businesses so that they can use SFBB. All who attend will get a further three hours of one-to-one coaching with a consultant at a later date, all at no cost.
As this is a legal requirement it makes good sense for businesses to accept assistance from those who understand the catering sector.
