Alternative Enforcement Strategy for Low Risk Food Premises
Self assesment questionnaires instead of inspections for low risk food businesses.
Until recently the Council has been obliged to inspect each and every food business as part of its food safety programme. Low risk food businesses now have the option to fill in a self assessment questionnaire. Copies can be downloaded below.

Low risk businesses are currently determined by a risk rating scheme.
The premises that fall into the low risk premises are classed as category E.
To validate this arrangement we will need to inspect a small, random sample of businesses and Officers will still have the right to enter any food business at "all reasonable hours" e.g. during opening hours.
