Off-Road Motorcycle Noise

This section provides information about off-road motorcycle noise and what constitutes noise nuisance.

It is possible that off road motorcycle noise could cause a statutory nuisance within the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Also the police have powers to deal with it under the Police Reform Act 2002. The Police Reform Act even allows the police to confiscate the motorcycles causing the disturbance.

Before you make a formal complaint we strongly recommend you read our guidance notes on making a complaint.

Having read the guidance notes, make your complaint online or make your complaint by letter, telephone or email.

We would suggest that you also write to the police since in most cases, their powers can usually be used with very little delay.

Both this authority and the police will need to know exactly where the activity is taking place and when it may be witnessed by the Council's officers.

If you know the address of the owner of the land please advise both us and the police of this since this information may speed up the investigation.
