Ice Cream Vehicle Chimes

This section provides information about noise nuisance and chimes from ice cream vans.

It is possible that noise from ice cream vehicles could cause a statutory nuisance nuisance within the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 but this is extremely unlikely.

However, there are circumstances under which this activity is a direct offence under section 62 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974.

Before you make a formal complaint we strongly recommend you read our guidance notes on making a complaint.

Having read the guidance notes, make your complaint online or make your complaint by letter, telephone or email.

We will need to know exactly where the activity is taking place and when it may be witnessed by our officers.

Any other information such as the name of company is involved, what is being advertised and how would be helpful.
