Environmental Health

This section has information about the wide range of services provided by the Council's Environmental Health Services department.

The Council's Environmental Health Services provide a range of services aimed at protecting the health, safety and welfare of the people who live and work in the Borough.

The main services that are provided relate to:

• Environmental Protection
  Controlling air quality, noise and contaminated land.
  
• Food Safety 
  Making sure that the food you eat is safe.
  
• Health and Safety
  Health and Safety in the workplace advice for businesses.
  
• Food Poisoning 
  Illness bought on by the consumption of contaminated food.
  
• Infectious Disease Control 
  Investigating and controlling disease outbreaks.
  
• Licensing
  Of taxis and private hire vehicles, public entertainment events, door supervisors, animals and animal establishments.
  
• Pest Control
  Eradicating carriers of disease.

Where there is more than one organisation that may be able to help tackle an issue, we work in partnership to find the best solution. 

The organisations that we work in partnership with include the Environment Agency, Food Standards Agency, Health and Safety Executive, Surrey County Council and Surrey Police, among others.

Environmental Health tackles many issues and there are many opportunities in the private and public sector, at local, regional, national and even an international level in Environmental Health.
