Dog Warden

Strays

This section provides information on the Council's policy for dealing with stray dogs.

You are no longer be able to hand over stray dogs at your local Police Station. Stray dogs are now our responsibility.

Hand dogs in at  Earlswood Depot

During normal working hours (8.30am-16.45pm Monday - Friday), Reigate & Banstead Borough Council will operate an Acceptance Centre at Earlswood Depot, Horley Road, Redhill, Surrey RH1 6PN.

At all other times the public should contact our Out of Hours Service on 01737 276000 and arrangements will be made to collect the dog from you.

Dogs only

It is important to note that our duties only apply to dogs found within the Borough and not any other sort of livestock. 

Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005

Section 68 of the Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005 passes all statutory duties for stray dogs from the Police to Local Authorities from Sunday 6 April 2008.
