About the dog warden
This section provides information about dogs and the role of the Council's dog warden.
The Council’s dog warden is responsible for all dog related enquiries. She is on call to all local Police Stations and works closely with the RSPCA, Animal Welfare Officers and Animal Sanctuaries.
Within the Borough the dog warden is responsible for, and is able to deal with
- Lost, stolen and stray dogs
- Dog attacks
- Animal welfare
- Noise complaints
- Dog fouling complaints
The dog warden is happy to deal with all enquiries relating to our four-legged friends.
Her duties also include provision of responsible pet ownership education in schools and organisations, and the giving of friendly, sound advice whenever it is needed.
It is possible to meet the dog warden by arranging an appointment at her office, if your complaint is of a delicate nature, eg it involves neighbours.
The dog warden's office number is 01737 276605.
If the answerphone is in operation, just leave a message giving your name and telephone number and you will be contacted the following day.
In case of emergencies, call the Council’s Help Line 01737 276000 or the Police, and they will contact the dog warden immediately.
Tell me about
This section is just an introduction to our service.
The Dog Warden is an experienced professional and deals with many other probems in which other Councils may not involve themselves. She also works with and assists Social Services with dog-related problems.
In the months to come, these pages will be updated with lots of helpful information and interesting stories about the Dog Warden function but, as a general rule, dog owners need always to remember that there are dog-lovers and non-dog-lovers and to live in harmony they need to be aware of each others' feelings.
A dog owner is responsible for their dog's actions.
Make sure your dog is well trained and happy - you owe it to others, as much as you owe it to your dog.
