Electoral Register

The Electoral Register

This section is intended to help people looking for information about the Electoral Register.

Every year the Council's Electoral Services team compiles a list of names and addresses of people living in the Borough.

The list is called the 'Register of Electors' or commonly, the Electoral Register, and being on the list entitles you to vote in local, national and European elections.

The Electoral Register is solely based on the information you supply to the Council's Electoral Services team.

The Council writes to every property in the Borough each year to keep the list up to date.

Contrary to popular belief, paying Council tax does not automatically mean that you are registered to vote, so it is important to return the electoral register forms, which are delivered to households in the autumn.

You can check if your name is on the Electoral Register by contacting Electoral Services.

If you wish to check that you are on the register please  contact the Electoral Services team.

A new Electoral Register is published on 1st December each year.

If you

you can fill in a Voter Registration Form and join the Electoral Register.

Where can I get a voter registration form?

Complete the form and return it to the Electoral Registration Officer at the address shown at the foot of the form.

Alternatively, collect a form from one of the Council's Help Shops.

Please note that you will not be able to vote as soon as you have completed the Registration Form.

Your registration details will be updated between 2-6 weeks from receipt of the application. You will be notified as soon as your name has been added to the register.
