At the Annual Council meeting on 15 May 2008, Councillor Nicholas Harrison, Ward member for Tattenhams, was elected Deputy Mayor. His wife Pam will be his Deputy Mayoress for the year.
Biography and background
Councillor Nick Harrison has represented the Tattenhams Ward since 2003. He serves on both the Planning and Licensing Committees.
Cllr Harrison is also the County Councillor for Banstead West; he sits on the Transportation and the Audit & Governance Committees and also the Preston Regeneration Implementation Board.
He has focused much of his work on the Council’s budgets and finances, and was particularly pleased with the Council’s commitment to rebuild the Leisure Centre in Merland Rise and regenerate the Preston area.
Nick was brought up in Surrey and has a degree in Economics. He trained as a chartered accountant, and worked in the City for 30 years before retiring. Nick and his wife Pam live in Epsom Downs and have three children.
Outside of his work with the Council, Nick is involved in several local organisations. He is on the Committees of the Tattenhams and Nork Residents’ Associations, and is a long-standing member of the local branch of AFASIC (see the Association for all Speech-Impaired Children website which opens in a new window), the national charity for speech and language impaired children.
He is also a Conservator of Banstead Commons and a Governor of Shawley Community Primary School.
