Shopping parade enhancements
This section contains information about the Shopping parade enhancements scheme.
The Shopping parade enhancements scheme is in place to transform villages and shopping parades across the Borough.
Viable, vital and well-maintained shopping parades are a priority for the Council.
In September 2005 the Borough Council’s Executive Committee gave the go-ahead for work to commence on the first two enhancement schemes.
When consulted, roads and footways came top of residents list of things that need improving. The scheme will also look at street furniture, street lighting and parking.
The enhancements scheme has a three-year programme of activity with the projects being funded by the Borough Council under its capital programme and infrastructure contributions from planning developments.
Proposed enhancements include:
- footway resurfacing
- improving or renewing street furniture where required
- installing new mini recycling sites
- improvements if constraints of narrow roads and pavements can be overcome in designing a suitable scheme
