Comprehensive Performance Assessment
This section provides information about the Comprehensive Performance Assessment which the Council last underwent in December 2003. The results were published in April 2004.
Reigate and Banstead Borough Council is a GOOD Council and well placed for further improvements - that's the result of the Audit Commission's Comprehensive Performance Assessment of the Council.
The Audit Commission’s report released in April 2004 commended the Council for achieving high levels of performance in many areas, including waste collection and recycling (where it is among the top performing Councils nationally), for the way that customers can access services and for protecting the environment.
It also noted that the Council has sound financial management and is using this financial security to invest wisely to provide more flexible and responsive services for local people.
The report recognised that Councillors, managers and staff demonstrate a high level of commitment to improve services.
About CPA
The Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) is part of a rolling programme to give local people a report on how their district councils are performing corporately, and how they are serving their communities.
Councils are rated as
- Excellent
- Good
- Fair
- Weak
- Poor.
The Audit Commission inspected the Council between 8 and 12 December 2003. As well as an on-site inspection the Council had to carry out a self-assessment.
This was challenged by councillors and officers from other councils before being submitted to the Audit Commission.
The on-site visit from the team of inspectors assessed the Council's performance in core services, and its ability to improve.
As part of the process the Council has to devise an Improvement Plan which it works to with help from the Audit Commission.
