This page contains information on the Council's Anti Fraud and Corruption policy and explains how to report a fraud.
What is Fraud and Corruption?
The Audit Commission defines fraud as “The intentional distortion of financial statements or other records by persons internal or external to the authority which is carried out to conceal the misappropriation of assets or otherwise for gain”.
This might cover acts involving theft, deception, bribery, forgery, embezzlement, corruption, and concealment of material facts.
What do I do if I suspect something?
- Make an immediate note of your concerns

What not to do
- Approach or accuse any individuals directly
- Try to investigate the matter yourself
- Convey your suspicions to anyone other than those with the proper authority
