Taxi rank review consultation

The Borough Council is committed to consulting with the community on a wide range of issues. This consultation is about provision of taxi ranks locally.

Consultation Overview

There is currently a restriction on the number of hackney carriages (taxis) permitted to operate in the borough.

The Council has decided to remove the restriction, when the review of the taxi rank provision has been undertaken.

Why did we consult?

To give the hackney carriage trade and other interested parties the opportunity to be involved in the review of taxi rank provision.

Who was consulted?

Taxi drivers, taxi operators, taxi users, and interested parties including disability groups, local partnership groups, transport user groups, residents’ associations.

Web users were also able to take part in the consultation.

When did the consultation take place?

From 9 August 2004 until 20 September 2004.
