Air Quality Consultation Reigate High Street
The Council is currently consulting on the latest report examining air pollution on Reigate High Street. We would also welcome suggestions as to how air quality on the High Street may be improved as part of our current work on this issue.
The main findings of the report into air pollution on the High Street are that:
i) the annual average UK air quality standard for nitrogen dioxide (a pollutant from road traffic) continues to be breached on the High Street and along Church Street between the High Street and Banncroft Road.
ii) Computer modelling indicates that the annual average air quality standard may also be breached along West Street, and around the one way system in Reigate (London Road and Castlefield Road).
Additional monitoring has been installed to confirm the computer modelling, and if a breach of the standard is confirmed then the current air quality management area that covers the High Street and Church Street will be extended to included West Street and the Reigate one way system.
