Star for a Night
This page tells you about an annual event called star for a night, when young people from across the borough perform in a fanstastic variety show.
Star for a Night is just one of the enormously popular People & Places initiatives run by the Council.
Providing welcome after school activity, this initiative channels the bags of energy and artistic talent our young people offer to form a showcase of song, dance and drama.

A firm favorite
Now in its fifth year Star for a Night still pulls the crowds. A firm favorite with local schools, students and their families the event simply grows from strength to strength.
Each year a raft of new faces arrive at the auditions along with an ever increasing number of past performers all keen to show-off their creative ability!
Self Confidence
Working with Surrey Youth Service the principal aim of this initiative is not just to ‘put on a show’, but to promote self-confidence and self-worth within the young adult community.
Research demonstrates that participation in positive activity can help to reduce the risk of young people getting involved in anti-social behaviour.
We hope that Star for a Night provides this needed positive activity whilst helping participants to develop skills, enjoy team working and achieve a sense of citizenship. It is these qualities that will continue to be of value throughout their adult lives.

Collecting certifcates of achievement
Held at the Harlequin Theatre over two nights the young people of the borough bring Redhill to life with a colourful and lively array of music, dance and drama.
Attracting a full-house, the show is enjoyed by friends, family and local residents.
