How much do companies give?
This page contains information about how much funds companies tend to give.
Given that there is a statutory obligation to declare their charitable donations where the total exceeds £200 in any one year (Section 234 of the Companies Act 1985), getting a figure is relatively easy – you just ask for a copy of the annual report or check the website.
The figure for community contributions, however, is more difficult to obtain and less precisely calculated, if at all. The work of the London Benchmarking Group (LBG) and PerCent Club however, does appear to be having some success in addressing this.
Total Cash donations made by the companies in this guide amount to £244 million, with a further £185 million declared for other forms of support.
