Crime Reduction

Community wardens

This section explains about the role of the Council's community wardens who work closely with the police to reduce crime and disorder.

Since October 2001 the Borough Council has been employing three Community Safety wardens who patrol the Borough.

The uniformed wardens act as extra eyes and ears for the local police and work closely with neighbourhood police constables.

The wardens are all former police officers and are very experienced in dealing with the day to day problems which occur in the Borough.

If trouble occurs whereby a police presence is required they are in radio contact with local officers who can be quickly at the scene.

The wardens each cover a patch, and work weekends as well as during the week.
