Emergency Planning

Neighbourhoods against terrorism

The possibility of terrorists operating in Surrey has never been greater and we must respond to the national threat.

With the safety of the public its highest priority, Surrey Police has an ongoing commitment to deter and tackle terrorism and precautionary checks of locations across the county remain a key tactic in the fight against terrorism.

Everyone has a role to play in keeping the county safe and your support is needed.

In an emergency – do not delay

If you think you have seen a person acting suspiciously, or if you see a vehicle, unattended package or bag which might be a threat, immediately move away and call 999. An immediate 999 call is always justified as seconds can save lives.

Beating terrorism

You know your neighbourhood better than anyone. You are best placed to recognise unusual activity.

If you think that you may have seen something suspicious or you are unsure about someone’s activities or behaviour, however insignificant it may seem at the time, call the Anti-Terrorism Hotline on 0800 789 321.

Log on to www.surreyalert.info for advice during an emergency and to help you plan for an emergency should one occur.

What can be suspicious?

Ask yourself the following questions.

Be alert to behaviour in your neighbourhood.

If in doubt, share your concerns with local officers or on the Anti-Terrorism Hotline.
