Reigate Shop Front Design SPG
This section provides information about Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on shopfront design.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) is produced by the Borough Council to provide extra guidance on and the interpretation of Local Plan policies.
The Reigate Shop Front Design SPG was adopted on 11th March 1993, and updated in 1999.
Its purpose:
- To outline recent problems which have caused some reduction in the quality of shopfront design in Reigate;
- To detail how to harmonise shopfronts with the age and design features of the rest of the building;
- To set out principles to achieve good quality shop signs;
- To consider other issues affecting shopfronts, including blinds and security; and
- To identify the types of shopfronts found in Reigate.
Key Message:
- Good shopfront design is essential if the character of Reigate, and its attractiveness to shoppers, is to be conserved and enhanced.
