Historic Parks and Gardens SPG
This section provides information about Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on appropriate uses for historic parks and gardens.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) is produced by the Borough Council to provide extra guidance on and the interpretation of Local Plan policies.
The Historic Parks and Gardens SPG was adopted on 29 November 2001.
Purpose:
- to identify historic gardens that contribute to the historic environment or local distinctiveness
- to set out the key features of historic gardens within the Borough
- to provide information on trees and shrubbery, including maintenance and replanting
- to outline the legal and planning issues in relation to statutory controls.
Key message:
- the identification and effective management of historic parks and gardens is important if they are not to be lost forever.
If you would like information on how to obtain a copy of the SPG please call 01737 276204 or email ldf@reigate-banstead.gov.uk.
