Equal opportunities and disabilities

This section provides information about the equal opportunities responsibilities of employers.

• Equal Opportunities Commission 
  The EOC website contains information and links including an overview of the Sex Discrimination and Equal Pay Acts and various rights at work. 
  
  
• Commission for Racial Equality 
  A range of useful information with downloadable employment publications including a good practice guide for small firms on race, sex and disability.
  
  
• Equality Direct 
  A new government website to help owner managers gain a better understanding of equality law. 
  
  
• Disability Rights Commission 
  The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is an independent body set up by the Government to help secure civil rights for disabled people. Website includes a wide range of information some of which is aimed at employers. 
  
  
• Disability Discrimination Act
  See the DDA website for information on the latest stage of the Disability Discrimination Act - Access to goods and services. People running shops, restaurants, sports grounds and council facilities have to take "reasonable" steps to ensure they can be used by disabled people. You can also read an Introduction for Small and Medium-sized Businesses on the DDA web site.
