In response to the Syrian refugee crisis the Leader of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Cllr Victor Broad has written to the Prime Minister The Right Hon. David Cameron MP offering assistance in finding homes for a number of Syrian refugees.

Putting forward the offer Cllr Broad said: "We have all been moved by the plight of Syrian refugees. In Reigate & Banstead we are offering to take in a number of affected families, to house them and provide support to them in rebuilding their lives and in finding work.

"We support the Government’s pledge to take refugees from camps bordering Syria, to ensure we help those in greatest need of humanitarian aid and attempt to stem the tide of those risking their lives to enter Europe."

The Council will liaise with relevant partner organisations to progress this offer.
