Help us design new play area and sports zone for Memorial Park

We want to hear your ideas for the new play area and sports zone in Memorial Park, Redhill, as part of the £1.4 million project to improve the park.

A selection of play area designs and examples of possible sports zone facilities will be on display in The Belfry shopping centre on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 February, with Council staff on hand to answer questions.

The exhibition will then move to The Harlequin Theatre from 12 to 26 February 2013.

Improved and expanded

Cllr Natalie Bramhall, Executive Member for Property and Regeneration, said: “We want to improve Memorial Park and its facilities to create a popular and contemporary urban park that offers the type of facilities that residents and people who work and shop in Redhill want.

“The children’s play area will move to a more central location, next to the new café, and be expanded and improved with new equipment.

“Plans for the sports zone include renovating the tennis courts and MUGA and introducing new activities for young people such as a new skate park, climbing wall and outdoor exercise equipment.”

Help shape design

Cllr Adam De Save, Executive Member for Leisure, said: “Please come along and see the plans and tell us what you would like to see to help shape the new look of your park. Your feedback will be valuable in helping us to develop the detailed designs later in the spring.”

View and comment online

If you are unable to visit the exhibition, you can view the designs online on the Memorial Park Improvement Project page, where you can also give your views.

Alternatively, you can pick up a leaflet and short questionnaire from the display venues or by calling Customer Services on 01737 276000.

The closing date for comments is 28 February 2013.

Detailed designs will be drawn up in late spring, with works expected to start on site in the autumn and be completed in summer 2014.
