Free Community Festival in Priory Park

Come along on Saturday 30 June to the Reigate Community Festival, which returns to Priory Park and promises to be a fun-packed day for all the family.

Hundreds of people are expected to visit this free event in Priory Park organised by the Reigate Events Collective.

The event will boast many local craft and gift stalls, community and information stalls, traditional fairground rides, children's activities, food and drink stalls, as well as cadet displays, community games, Zumba, and live music.

In this Olympic year the spirit of London 2012 will be evident with a full scale Tug of War competition as part of the Community Games event. (If you want to take part, you can still register your team for this inaugural event - see below for contact details)

Throughout the day the main arena will feature an assortment of live music acts; and this year's headlining act from local East Enders actor, Shane Richie and his band, The Prelude. The chairman of the Reigate Events Collective said; "We are delighted that Shane and his band are supporting this local event." Other bands on the bill include A Brilliant Life, Tin Soldiers, United Stoats of America and Mothership.

“The Community Festival gets better each year and as a goodwill gesture, we have again agreed to suspend parking charges for the day in our Reigate town centre car parks so that visitors to the event can park for free, to make it easier for people to attend.” Said Cllr Adam De Save, Executive Member for Leisure.

Incorporating Armed Forces Day

As in previous years, the Community Festival has incorporated Armed Forces Day and the local Territorial Army and cadet units, will be out in force in the park. They will be bringing a selection of heavy vehicles and putting on displays in the arena. They will also be a mini assault course and an army field kitchen supplying army ration style food.

The day promises to be a special community event, which has been made possible thanks to the support of local businesses, local groups and Reigate & Banstead Borough Council who have confirmed that car parking in Reigate will be free on that day.
