Council Leader and Executive elected
Cllr Mrs Joan Spiers was re-elected as Council Leader and Cllr Victor Broad as Deputy Leader at Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s Annual Council meeting.
The eight Executive Members that make up the Council’s Executive for the 2010/11 municipal year were also elected:
- Council Leader - Cllr Mrs Joan Spiers
- Finance (Deputy Leader) - Cllr Victor Broad
- Leisure & Wellbeing - Cllr Adam De Save
- Planning, Transport & Housing - Cllr Mike Miller
- Environment - Cllr Julian Ellacott
- Enforcement - Cllr Steve Farrer
- Regeneration - Cllr Allen Kay
- Personnel & Organisational Change - Cllr Roger Newstead
- Partnership & Communities - Cllr Mrs Ros Mill.
A new addition to the Executive is Cllr Ros Mill, who takes over responsibility of the Partnership and Communities portfolio, formerly held by Cllr Dr Daniel Poulter who resigned his seat on the Council prior to elections to stand as a Parliamentary candidate.
2009-2012 Corporate Plan
The Executive portfolios reflect the priorities to be delivered under the Council’s 2009-2012 Corporate Plan: Environment - a clean, green, safe borough; Regeneration - developing tomorrow’s communities today; and a Council Fit for the Future - committed to continuous improvement.
Outgoing Mayor
During the meeting Cllr Mrs Spiers took the opportunity to pay tribute to the outgoing Mayor, Cllr Richard Mantle and thanked Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mrs Jill Bray for their achievements during their term in office and wished the incoming Mayor, Cllr David Pay, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Graeme Crome, an enjoyable and successful year. Cllr Mrs Spiers also gave a vote of thanks to council staff for their work over the last year.
