Time is running out to get tickets for Star for a Night show
Tickets are now on sale for the 'Star for a Night' youth variety show at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill on 12 and 13 April 2010.
Time is running out to get your tickets for 'Star for a Night 2010', the youth variety show organised by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council which takes place at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill on Monday 12 April and Tuesday 13 April 2010.
Over 80 budding young singers, dancers, actors and musicians from schools and youth clubs across the borough will be combining their talents to provide an evening’s entertainment not to be missed.
Scores of young people aged between 11 and 18 entered auditions in January for a place in the show.
Wonderful opportunity
Cllr Adam De Save, Executive Member for Leisure and Wellbeing, said: “This is a wonderful chance for the borough's young people to do something a bit different, something they will remember for years to come.
“The show is called ‘Star for a Night’ and that is the opportunity it offers people – to come out of the environment they live in day to day, and feel just like a star for the evening.
"But it's not just about the final show, it's about meeting new people, working together, building confidence and developing their skills.
“Over the last couple of months, the performers, with the help of a team of professional coaches, have been working very hard to perfect their dance routines, songs and sketches to wow the audience on their big night.
"As always, this year’s show promises to be an entertaining night.”
Scholarships
Following the show’s finale on Tuesday night, two lucky cast members will be told, live on stage, that they have won scholarships to So You Wanna Be! theatre school for a year.
The Borough Council launched Star for a Night in 2001 to give young people an opportunity to show their talents and provide a positive activity to promote self confidence and team working.
The project is funded by sponsorship, and this year's initiative is supported So You Wanna Be!, Towers Watson and County and Borough Councillors Dr Lynne Hack and Dorothy Ross-Tomlin through their County Councillors’ funding allocation.
Printmates, based in Redhill, kindly print the show programmes and publicity materials free of charge and refreshments for the Mayor’s VIP reception are courtesy of Chez Vous in Reigate.
