Changes to the Horseshoe Car Park, Banstead
From 15 August 2010, the Horseshoe Car Park in Banstead will no longer be managed by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.
Surrey County Council (SCC) as owners of the land has awarded a five year lease to operate a car park to APCOA Limited.
Cllr Allen Kay, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: “We have been unable to renew our lease for the Horseshoe Car Park and as such will no longer be responsible for its management or maintenance after 15 August 2010. This includes parking enforcement which will now be carried out by the new operators.
School passes
“The car park has been used successfully for a number of years by local schools to help ease parental parking outside schools. From 15 August, the current passes issued by the Borough Council for this purpose will cease to be valid. However Surrey County Council has agreed a clause within the lease requiring APCOA to continue to provide school parking permits for parents."
“We are also in discussions with APCOA to continue to operate our recycling centre at this site.”
Local signage will be provided in the lead up to the changeover to let residents and businesses know about the forthcoming changes.
