Have your say to help shape the borough's future development
Residents are being asked for their views on what they think the most important planning issues facing the borough are, and how they should be dealt with.
The council is carrying out a public consultation on its Development Management and Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DMSA DPD), which supports the borough’s Core Strategy.
The document will help the council allocate land for different types of development, such as housing, employment and retail, and detail protective designations, such as Green Belt. It will also shape detailed policies for managing the different types of development.
Once finalised the document will be used to guide decisions on planning applications across the borough.
Have your say
Cllr Miller, Executive Member for Planning Transport and Housing, said: “We have looked at what we think the important planning issues facing the borough are and options to deal with them through planning policies.
"Now we would like the community’s views on whether they agree with these issues and options. The consultation is also asking for suggestions for development sites.
“I would urge residents and businesses to have their say on this policy as their views will help shape how the borough develops in the coming years.”
Information events
So that residents can find out more about the issues and options and how to take part in the consultation, the council is holding three information events across the borough.
Members of the Policy Team will be on hand to answer visitors’ questions and provide assistance.
