Temporary closure of Priory Park pavilion
The pavilion in Priory Park will be closed from Monday 1 to Friday 19 March for repairs and improvements to the floor surface.
The pavilion in Priory Park, Reigate, is to close temporarily from Monday 1 to Friday 19 March 2010 to allow for repairs and improvements to the floor surface.
The existing floor surface has become a victim of the pavilion's success with the high volume of pedestrian and buggy use through the building causing damage, and so the floor is to be treated and then resurfaced with a special vinyl floor covering.
Wear and tear

Cllr Adam De Save, Executive Member for Leisure and Wellbeing, said: “As a new facility, and with nothing of its like in the borough, it was difficult for us to gauge how popular the Priory Park pavilion would be.
"We are extremely pleased with how successful it has been with park visitors but this has resulted in a higher than anticipated level of wear and tear.
"We want to make sure we maintain the high standards of the building so that it remains a popular venue and, with its dual use as a cafe, visitors expect to have clean facilities in good decorative order.
"The new floor covering will not only provide a better surface for visitors but will also be easier to clean.
“We have chosen to carry out the works now, whilst visitor numbers to the park are relatively low, but would like to apologise to park visitors for any inconvenience this necessary closure may cause.”
The pavilion will reopen on Saturday 20 March 2010.
Mobile unit
During the closure, the Cafe operator, Urban Kitchen, will have a small mobile unit on site in order to maintain a service to visitors.
The pavilion floor was coated last January to reduce the risk of marks and although this was effective it was a short-term solution.
The new floor covering should provide a longer-term solution to the issue, reducing the need for further closures to recoat the floor.
