Take 20 minutes to make your mark on 6 May
With polling day only days away, the Council is making sure that voters have all the information they need to cast their vote.
The Council is also reminding residents that every vote cast in the General and Borough elections on the 6 May 2010 can make a difference to our daily lives.
Don't let anything stop you voting
Nigel Clifford, Chief Executive and Returning Officer for Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, said: “It can take just 20 minutes from door to polling booth to make your mark and vote on polling day.
"This is your chance to have a say on who represents you in Westminster and on your local council. Those elected to represent you will make decisions that affect the everyday lives of you and your family, so don’t let anything stop you having your say on 6 May.”
The services provided by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council range from recycling and refuse collection, keeping the streets clean and maintaining parks and open spaces to running day centres for the elderly, providing sports and leisure facilities and operating a range of regulatory services such as environmental health and town planning.
Voting in person
Nigel continued: “All polling stations will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm so that you can vote whenever it is most convenient for you, whether before or after work or as part of the school run.
"Your poll card will tell you where your polling station is, and there will be staff on hand to answer your questions or provide you with any special assistance you may need to cast your vote.”
Postal votes
“If you are voting by post, read the instructions carefully when filling out the form that comes with your ballot paper. You must provide your date of birth and your signature for security reasons and to ensure your vote is valid.
"When you have filled in both the form and the ballot paper, put them in the envelopes provided, seal them immediately, and post to us as soon as you can.”
The count for the General Election will take place after the polls have closed on 6 May. The Borough Election count will take place on Friday 7 May.
