Only days left to secure your vote
Voters only have a few days left to secure their vote at the UK general election and local borough election on 6 May.
Registration deadline
“If your name is not already on the electoral register, you have until Tuesday 20 April to register to vote,” warns Nigel Clifford, Chief Executive and Returning Officer of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.
“If you are not registered, you won’t be able to vote on polling day. Registering only takes a few minutes, and means you can have a say in who represents you in the UK Parliament and on your Borough Council.
“You can also apply for a postal vote if that is more convenient for you than going to your local polling station on 6 May but you must apply by Tuesday 20 April.”
You can download a voter registration form from our website or telephone the Council's Help Line on 01737 276000. You can also print off application forms for a postal or proxy vote.
Postal and proxy application deadline
The closing date for receipt of postal vote applications is 5.00pm on Tuesday 20 April 2010. For proxy voting applications, the deadline is 5.00pm on Tuesday 27 April 2010.
Nigel added: “Don’t let anything stop you having your say on election day."
